about us
Redemption was founded in 2013 by Catherine Salway with the mission to create an inspirational space away from temptations where people could socialise healthily, to help make it cool to eat vegan and to avoid booze. Starting from scratch with pop ups in Hackney, Portobello and Holborn, we went on to have three welcoming, vibrant and trusted restaurant bars in Shoreditch, Covent Garden and Notting Hill.
Our beautiful, imaginative food and innovative cocktails were all super-fresh and made by hand on the day by a team of 50 passionate people serving 5000 customers per week. We were a member of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, we aimed to recycle 90% of our waste, we were plastic-free, and we worked with social enterprise apps like Karma to give away spare food. We had our own book of cocktail and canapes recipes and we had just finished a cooking and wellness retreat in Portugal the week before the first Covid lockdown in March 2020.
Check out our IN THE MEDIA page and our social media accounts to see the accolades we were blessed to receive from hard-nosed journalists and customers alike.
Heartbreakingly, the restaurant sector has been significantly affected by the pandemic and as a young independent business this has meant the restaurants couldn’t survive in their central London locations and the business had to close down.
There is still so much love for the concept, menu and drinks – so we are reviewing our strategy for the future and we are looking for people to partner with to restart in this post-Covid world. It could be that the future lies in helping people to live the lifestyle at home rather than in running restaurants. We can be contacted at [email protected].
